WACKER SILICONES Presents New Silicone Waxes for the Cosmetics Industry
Whether for skin care, sun care, lipsticks or make-up formulations, cosmetics manufacturers the world over have relied for years on silicone products from WACKER. INCOSMETICS in Milan, Italy, WACKER SILICONES will showcase established Wacker-Belsil products and three new silicone waxes – Wacker-Belsil CDM 3526 VP, Wacker-Belsil CM 7026 VP and Wacker-Belsil MM 8030 VP.
The new products are alkyl-modified silicone compounds, used mainly in skin-care creams, sunscreens and decorative cosmetics. In skin-care products, they improve the formulation efficiency and impart a soft, non-sticky skin feel. By forming occlusive films, they also reduce transepidermal water loss from the skin.
Enhanced water-resistance and moisturizing properties make the new Wacker-Belsil silicone waxes an essential ingredient in sunscreen products, lipsticks, mascara and foundation formulations.
In color-cosmetic applications, they hold pigments in place while simultaneously improving skin feel. This makes them ideal for long-lasting lipsticks and foundations.
Gelatinous at room temperature, fluid on your skin: Wacker-Belsil CDM 3526 VP Wacker-Belsil CDM 3526 VP stands out particularly among the new alkyl-modified silicone compounds from WACKER SILICONES on account of its low melting point. Still of a gelatinous consistency at room temperature, the silicone wax turns fluid at body temperature.
This property makes cosmetic emulsions with poorly-spreading oils or liquid UV filters much easier to spread on the skin. Wacker-Belsil CDM 3526 VP improves the spreadability of these oils by up to 120 percent. Properties like this are especially useful for formulating sunscreen products, since here it is essential to distribute the sunscreen substances evenly over the skin.
Emulsions formulated with Wacker-Belsil CDM 3526 VP also feel much more pleasant on the skin than silicone-free waxes. Still solid at high temperatures: Wacker-Belsil CM 7026 VP and Wacker-Belsil MM 8030 VP With its innovative products – Wacker-Belsil CM 7026 VP and Wacker-Belsil MM 8030 VP – WACKER SILICONES is for the first time offering silicone waxes with high melting points.
The two waxes differ in the chain-length of the olefin used, and hence in their melting points. Wacker-Belsil CM 7026 VP only loses its wax-like consistency at around 70 °C, while Wacker-Belsil MM 8030 VP remains solid even up to 80 °C.
Both Wacker-Belsil grades are suitable for the production of lipsticks and viscous cosmetic preparations. Lipsticks formulated with
Wacker-Belsil CM 7026 VP or Wacker-Belsil MM 8030 VP do not deform even at the high temperatures often encountered on the beach or in a car’s glove compartment. Wacker-Belsil Under the Wacker-Belsil trademark, WACKER SILICONES markets a broad range of high-quality silicone additives and silicone waxes for cosmetic applications.
These individually formulated, customized silicone compounds with melting points between 35 °C and 80 °C are produced by varying the structural configuration or by modifying the functional groups.
Formulators particularly welcome the a little goes a long way effect of Wacker-Belsil and the pleasantly soft, non-sticky feel it confers on the skin. WACKER SILICONES WACKER SILICONES is one of the world's top four silicone producers with a portfolio of over 2,000 products.
Silicones form the basis for materials with highly differentiated product properties and virtually unlimited applications. These range from the automotive, construction, electrical and electronic industries, through cosmetics, consumer care, mechanical engineering and metalworking, to pulp, paper and textiles.
